Motivated Monday – 08/06/20

Greetings Platypuses,

It’s Monday and let’s be motivated for the week ahead! Lots of super learning to do and enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

First up a reminder of your daily tasks:

There are new spellings up on Sumdog.

Phonics

Today’s split digraph is the u-e digraph. Watch the video below to learn more about it:

So sometimes this digraph makes the ‘oo’ sound and sometimes it makes the ‘you’ sound.

Today we are going to concentrate on u-e when it makes the ‘oo’ sound.

Can you write the following words:

I’m very excited that today’s activities on BBC Bitesize are a great follow-up to some of our environmental learning on Friday.

Speaking of which let’s share this really interesting discussion Kiyana and her mum had about our P4C question ‘What would the world be like without plastic?’

If anyone else has some thoughts they’d like to share, please do!

Maths

The answers to Friday’s challenges are…

Topic – Transport

You can find your topic lesson on google classrooms. https://classroom.google.com

Remember to log on to our google classroom you will need your class email address and password. Change the @lgflmail ending to @apps.herbertmorrison.lambeth.sch.uk If you can’t remember your email or password then email in and we will send it to you again. We will be trying to use the classroom more and more so please do try to access it this week.

This week we will start our focus on London transport and be looking at the history of the London bus. There is a presentation to go through, a quiz and a task about designing a bus for the future…

Let’s finish today with a story

So what did you enjoy learning about most today?

Platypus adults please bear in mind that activities should take roughly 30 minutes (which is really as long as good concentration will last). If activities seem like they they will take longer, take a break and then come back to them, as long as you think it is appropriate to continue.

Do stay in touch ๐Ÿ™‚

Let’s build this online community – send in your photos and post your comments, discussions and thoughts throughout the week.

  1. Hi Kiyana and mum ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m glad Kiyana enjoyed the learning about buses, it would be very cool to go on one of the B-type buses!
    Fantastic maths! Well done ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hello Miss Linsley.

Kiyanaโ€™s favourite part of todayโ€™s learning was about the different types of buses. She enjoyed the video of the B-type bus where people was getting a chance to take pictures, sit and travel on one like people use to in the past.

Kiyana says she would like to go on one.

Kiyana was confident about counting in 2s when it came to the Maths work, and did very well on question 5 when she had a go at counting in 2s up to 50.
